Afar Danakil Depression

Day1: Flight to Mekelle then drive to Ahmedela

Up on arrival meet your representative at Bole International air port and transfer to the domestic terminal and flight to Mekelle. After taking some rest drive to Berhale en route visit afar people and villages. Meet the camel caravan coming from the cities back to Dalol and from Dalol with the salt to be sold in the cities of Tigray and neighboring regions. Then drive to Dalol, to see the Afar men extracting salt. This is spectacular colors of the nature, unique in the world. Overnight Camping at Ahmedela

Day 2: Dallol and drive to Erta’ale

After breakfast, drive to Dallol visit the sulfuric lake and then continue to climb Erta’ale volcano. Here are fantastic views, with the lava and the volcano rim. Pass your day and night on the rim of volcano. Overnight Camp at Erta’ale

Day 3: Drive back to Ahmedela

Walk back to the vehicles. Then drive back to Ahmedela. On the way visit one of the Afar Village, where you will camp.

Day 4: Drive back to Mekelle- Addis then Departure

After breakfast drive back to Mekelle then transfer to airport and flight back to Addis accordingly the program. In the afternoon, you will have leisure and shopping time. In the evening, farewell traditional dinner in one of the best restaurant in Addis followed by folkloric dance of different Ethiopian nations. Then transfer to airport to fly back to home, where the tour ends.

Danakil Depression and Erta’ale

Day 1: Arrival Addis Ababa

Up on arrival at Bole international airport and meet by Gada Sunlight Tour and Travel representative and transfer to hotel. After check in to hotel, city tour of Addis. Which includes national museum at the home of complete hominid fossil remain of Lucy dates 3.2 million years back, mount Entoto- the panoramic view from the highest point of Addis with an altitude of 3200 meter above sea level, trinity cathedral- beautiful church with a baroque style of European architecture unique to both Ethiopia and Africa, ethnographic museum, Oromo Cultural and Merkato (the largest open air market in Africa). In the evening, farewell traditional dinner in one of the best restaurant in Addis followed by folkloric dance of different Ethiopian nations. Overnight in Addis Ababa.

Day 2: Flight to Mekele

After breakfast, transfer in to airport to fly to Mekele. After check in to hotel, an excursion to the nearby rock hewn church of Abreha we Atsebeha and Wukro kerkeso and oral Negash Mosque, the first African Islamic settlement.
Overnight in Mekele

Day 3: Drive to Ahmedila

After breakfast, drive from Mekele to Ahmedila and on the way visit the Afar village over the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley system to the western highland. Overnight camping

Day 4: Ahmedila

In the morning drive from Ahemedila to Lake As’ale and visit the thousands of camel caravan and the rock salt mining. Afternoon, Drive further to Dallol Cobber Sink; the lowest spot on earth's surface not covered by water (-116 below sea level) enjoy the spectacular view and small hill, which is colorful by hot spring in several places. After visit drive back to Ahmedila. Overnight camping.

Day 5: Trekking to Erta’ale

After breakfast, drive from Ahmedila to the living Volcano Erta’ale which means "Smoking Mountain" in the local Afar language; Visit the volcano. Via the village Kursuad where you leave your vehicle and start you’re trekking. Overnight camping

Day 6: Drive to Lake Afdera

Morning drive from Erta’ale to the salty lake town Afdera, which is a highly saline body of water and lies at an altitude of 103 meters below sea level and listed as one of the lowest lying in the world. Overnight Camping.

Day 7: Drive to Mekele then flight back to Addis- then Departure

Morning drive from Afdera to Mekele then transfer in to airport to fly back to Addis Ababa. Then transfer to airport to fly back to home, where the tour ends.
